fracture

A portrait collection in contrast

I embark on a transformative journey with this portrait project, a fusion of innovative techniques and artistic exploration. This collection of portraits focuses on subjects rendered in commanding side profiles, each frame punctuated with a distinctive twist: broken glass elements layered over the image. The juxtaposition of vivid color through the fractured glass against a monochromatic background creates a deliberate paradox: the vivid hues seen through the shattered glass symbolize the multifaceted nature of our internal worlds, while the background, rendered in black and white, serves as a stark canvas, symbolizing life's inherent duality.

Through these portraits, I invite viewers to ponder the intricate interplay between the self and the world, and to consider the resilience found in our capacity to shine even through the fractures of existence.

Living Portraits

Stories in Skin and Expression

Through my exploration of large format film, I have embarked on a journey to craft portraits that are meticulously detailed, employing selective focus as my artistic tool. This project delves into the profound interplay of gaze and the relationship that forms between the subject and the lens. By meticulously capturing these images on film, I seek to elevate portraiture to a level of scientific precision and artistic expression.

This deliberate approach enables me to emphasize the intricate details that make each face unique, whether it be the mesmerizing depth of the eyes, the minute texture of the skin follicles, or the intricate patterns of hair. In this pursuit of detail, I aim to unravel the essence of the subject's individuality.

This project is more than just a visual exploration; it's a journey that merges the artistic with the scientific. I invite viewers to engage in an introspective examination of the relationships that exist within the confines of a portrait.

Stoned

Cannabis through portraiture

This project represents a unique convergence of art and human experience, using the human face as a canvas to depict a complex and often misunderstood element of our lives: cannabis. In these macro portraits, the focus is meticulously placed on the eye, capturing a moment where the model inhaled and contemplated the intricate emotions and sensations stirred by their chosen strain.

This project transcends the conventional representations of cannabis. It is an artistic endeavor that goes beyond showcasing the substance itself and, instead, delves into the profound interaction between cannabis and the human form. As the model inhaled, the camera bore witness to the subtle transformation of the eye—the dilation, the reflection of light, the depths of the pupil—an intimate dialogue with the essence of the plant.
